The end of the beginning

Back in June, just before we left for Aspen, Jory had his last day at his first day care. KC planned a little party to celebrate, and everyone was very sad - except for Jory, who had cupcakes and presents.

We all miss Tia Magda and Tio Ale, but we go back for visits!

At the circus!

While Mommy was in New York this weekend, Daddy and Jory went to the circus in Oakland!
We got very few photos of Jory, but here's one of him looking dazed by all the lights:

He was very well behaved for the 2.5-hour show, and by far his favorite was the elephants:

A lot of the things we saw were the same as when I went to the circus as a kid... except this:

He also liked the woman being shot out of a cannon, which he refers to as "airplane", since she goes "in the sky":

More cute photos from Aspen

These are photos that never made it onto the blog... but I thought they should have. They are all from our recent trip to Aspen.

Jory was very cuddly with Mommy:

These are all from a hike with Ajay, Sai, and Anika:

Then we went to lunch at the Pine Creek Cookhouse:

and then off to the ghost town Ashcroft, where Anika and Jory loved playing in the old hotel.

California Academy of Sciences

This weekend, we went to the Academy with Anika (our goddaughter) and her parents Ajay and Sai (Jory's godparents).

Jory went crazy in the aquarium part. He kept screaming "Fish! Come!", but didn't seem to realize that a) his voice was unlikely to penetrate through the thick glass, and b) if it somehow did, the last thing the fish would ever want to do is "come".

Still, he got to bother the starfish in the touch pool:

Nonetheless, there were some very cute photo ops, with Anika:

and at the gift store:

and we all went to the farmer's market on Sunday!

Fire truck!

Yesterday, Jory insisted on wearing his choo-choo overalls... over his regular clothes... and then a jacket on top of that. All in all, he looked a bit like a hobo:

But he might have been anticipating the visit from the local fire truck to his school! Jory was incredibly excited when he was 30 feet away from the fire truck:

but he started to get suspicious when he got closer.

He insisted on Mommy and Daddy joining him in the truck (which we secretly wanted to do anyway):
